Mark J. Fletcher is President and CEO of Katena Products, a leading ophthalmic surgical instrumentation company. Prior to joining Katena, Mr. Fletcher was President of the Surgical Technologies business of Medtronic PLC., From 1999 to 2016, Mr. Fletcher successfully achieved significant growth of Medtronic PLC’s $2 billion surgical technologies division through disruptive innovation, aggressive expansion, and strategic M&A. His product complement at Medtronic PLC included four key neurological treatment areas: Intraoperative Imaging/Navigation, Powered Instrumentation, Hydrocephalus Management, and Neuro ICU.
Mr. Fletcher’s experience includes President of Medtronic ENT, providing ear, nose and throat treatment technologies, and Vice-President/General Manager and Founder of Solan Ophthalmology. Solan became a holding of Xomed, a leader in sinus surgical instrumentation, both of which were acquired by Medtronic in 1999 for over $800 million. He is also a board member of several start-up medical technology companies worldwide, and co-founder of Shruthi, an organization dedicated to bringing ear health to the underserved in India.
